9th Edition

  • Performance: Unchanged
  • Cost: Unchanged
  • Strategy: +1

Thousand Sons players rejoiced when the news broke that Magnus can be put into reserves. Long plagued by turn 1 alpha strikes, Magnus should now see steady play in 9th since he can at least evade the worst of the enemy fire power early. In addition, he dodged a major point increase in the shift to 9th, which is a nice bonus.

Notes

  • Be ready to place him in Strategic Reserves when you face armies with serious Firepower to bring him down fast

8th Edition (Chapter Approved 2019)

Overall: 3.7

  • Performance: 5
  • Cost: 2
  • Strategy: 4

Notes

  • Absolute beast of a unit but comes with some baggage - expensive and weak against horde armies
  • Seeing a resurgence during the “Marine Meta” as high damage Alpha Strike armies have fallen out of favor
